Melalui dukungan pendanaan Geoscientists Without Borders (GWB) dari SEG Foundation, mereka melaksanakan Project Aquinas, sebuah kajian terpadu yang memadukan metode geofisika dan geokimia untuk memetakan kontaminasi akuifer di sekitar Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) Cipayung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Project Aquinas dipimpin oleh Anne Meylani Magdalena Sirait, Ph.D dari Program Studi Geofisika FMIPA UI, dengan koordinasi pelaksana mahasiswa oleh Indah Cahya Fitria (Geofisika 2021). Inisiatif ini tidak hanya bertujuan mengembangkan kompetensi akademik mahasiswa, tetapi juga mengarahkan keilmuan geofisika sebagai solusi nyata bagi masyarakat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-26-at-13.34.33-768x520-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4878\" srcset=\"https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-26-at-13.34.33-768x520-1.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-26-at-13.34.33-768x520-1-300x203.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-26-at-13.34.33-768x520-1-18x12.jpeg 18w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-26-at-13.34.33-768x520-1-600x406.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai organisasi global yang menaungi lebih dari 20.000 anggota di 128 negara, Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) melalui program GWB mendorong aksi berbasis ilmu kebumian untuk menjawab tantangan kemanusiaan. Project Aquinas menjadi salah satu implementasi program tersebut di Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kecamatan Cipayung, berlokasi di selatan Kota Depok, memiliki luas sekitar 12 km\u00b2 dan dihuni lebih dari 9.400 kepala keluarga. Di wilayah inilah berdiri TPA Cipayung seluas 20 hektare yang menerapkan metode open dumping. Penumpukan sampah yang mencapai ketinggian hingga 20 meter telah lama menimbulkan berbagai dampak lingkungan, termasuk bau menyengat, potensi penyakit, hingga penurunan kualitas air tanah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kondisi ini mendorong kebutuhan akan analisis ilmiah untuk memetakan sejauh mana kontaminasi dari TPA berdampak pada ketersediaan air bersih bagi warga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tim mahasiswa menerapkan dua metode utama: resistivitas dan Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Kedua teknik ini digunakan untuk mendeteksi keberadaan dan migrasi kontaminan di bawah permukaan tanah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasil pemetaan menunjukkan adanya indikasi kontaminasi pada kedalaman 6 hingga 25 meter, memperlihatkan pola pergerakan polutan dari area TPA menuju kawasan permukiman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gambar5-768x432-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4884\" srcset=\"https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gambar5-768x432-1.png 768w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gambar5-768x432-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gambar5-768x432-1-18x10.png 18w, https:\/\/geografi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gambar5-768x432-1-600x338.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Temuan tersebut diperkuat dengan analisis geokimia dari 20 sampel air tanah rumah warga. Berdasarkan standar baku mutu air pada PERMENKES No. 02 Tahun 2023 serta PP RI No. 22 Tahun 2021, sebanyak 13 dari 20 sampel dinyatakan tidak layak konsumsi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai tindak lanjut, Project Aquinas memasang filter air pada rumah-rumah terdampak sebagai solusi awal untuk menekan risiko kesehatan. Selain itu, tim menyelenggarakan kegiatan edukasi berupa Charity Event di SMAN 12 Depok, bertujuan mengenalkan metode geosains dan meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap isu kualitas air serta dampak pengelolaan sampah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasil penelitian dan proses intervensi ini kemudian dipresentasikan kepada warga sekitar TPA Cipayung dalam forum diskusi terbuka. Presentasi tersebut diwakili oleh Michael Partogi (Geofisika 2022) selaku Vice President SEG UI SC 2025 dan Steering Committee proyek, menandai kontribusi mahasiswa Indonesia dalam forum ilmiah tingkat dunia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melalui pendekatan ilmiah yang terstruktur dan intervensi sosial yang terukur, Project Aquinas menunjukkan bagaimana ilmu geofisika dapat menjadi alat penting untuk mengatasi persoalan kemasyarakatan.
